Fab 5 Friday...and ME!!!

The end of Daddy’s summer vacation is upon us -- and so quickly! -- but nonetheless we had a pretty fabulous week!

1) The girls helped me make a batch of pimento cheese last weekend, and they tried it for the first time with one of their new loves, carrot sticks. They’re hooked! It’s been a great addition to our lunches a couple of days this week…and there’s something about seeing my “babies” munching on carrot sticks that just makes me so proud!

2) Granddaddy and Emme came for a short visit this week. We were so happy to see them!

3) As I was putting her to bed one night, Baby A pointed to her hand. “These are my nostrils,” she said. I told her no, those are your knuckles. I’m sorry, knuckles,” she followed, kissing the top of her hand. I think I laughed so hard I snorted.

4) We frequent our local yogurt shop about once a week, almost always with Daddy. On our first day of Daddy being back at work, I decided to be brave…I took the girls by myself…sans stroller. We talked beforehand about them waiting patiently while I fixed their yogurt and paid. I was SO INCREDIBLY PROUD what big girls they were! They sat up straight in their chairs, watching my every move. Whew! Another Mommy Milestone under my belt!

5) I discovered this week that I could braid the girls’ hair into pigtails. It’s so “Little House on the Prairie”…I can hardly stand it!

And what did I do for ME this week???

I have been really blessed to – coincidentally – have caught up with each of my in-town girlfriends in some form or fashion. Coffee with one, a visit downtown with another, ice cream with a third, and then Fondue Night with three of my MoMs group friends. It’s made for a bit of a marathon…as I squeezed everything in during naptime / after bedtime…but that “sacrifice” has been well worth it!

[Thanks to dollimama for hosting my favorite link-up each week...and reminding me to appreciate the little things I do for "me"!]

Sounds like you had wonderful "family time" during dad's vay-K!

Homemade cheese...would love the recipe! BTW, I love the girls pig-tails. I can't wait until Ave's hair is long enough to braid...she is a slow "hair grower" so it will be a while yet. ;)

Gotta LOVE girfriend time!

Have a great weekend!

Hooray for time with friends! It's so soothing to the soul sometimes to have adult time without the lovlies in tow! I hope it was a time of sweet fellowship for you!

That's how I get my adult time with my girlfriends also--during naptimes or after the girls go to bed. :)

Boo to daddy going back to work. Makes me sadder to realize my time is winding down too :-(

Yeah for time with friends! I got to meet my BFF for lunch this week and then meeting another girlfriend next week :-) Yeah!

LOVE the plaits. Just love!

Was it a hassle getting them to sit still or were they compliant?

K loves getting her hair done but rips out the ponytail holders seconds later!

Love your me time! I have girlfriend (infertility friends) me time this Thurs but I was thinking of cancelling today as they all want to meet at 7:30 - I eat 6:30 - 7:00 and will stay late at work to do this so huge schlep all round. Grrr.

Oh, I'm so sad that I have to go back to work next week too! Boo. But I'm so glad to read about all the good things that went on for you this week! The Yogurt Shop milestone was a good one, right?! I love that I can bring my twins everywhere with no stroller now. :)

The braids are OH so cute! And we gotta keep up with our girlfriends, which can become seriously neglected as we get busy with life!

I love the Little House on the Prairie look. I hope someday Tiny will have enough hair to do that. Her hair is actually pretty long, but with such tight curls, it doesn't go much beyond her chin. Maybe someday.

Catching up with girlfriends sounds very nice. I need to make a point of doing that sometime soon.
