My birthday is on February 23, and on the 23rd of each month, I've taken to sharing a couple of random bits about myself. Here 'goes for January...
33) I'm a bit particular about my cereal.
I love eating cold cereal in the mornings. (In college I used to eat it for other meals, too...but I have tried to dispense with that habit since I got a mortgage.) For the last several years, my favorites are Raisin Bran Crunch and Frosted Mini Wheats, the crunch being central in both of those.
So, to optimize said crunch, I wait until the very last second to pour my milk...and I eat in no-time flat, barely pausing to wipe the milk that sometimes dribbles down my chin. Paramount is getting the most crunch out of my bowl!
With the Mini Wheats, I do take the time to turn all the "wheats" so the frosted side is up, out of the milk. Careful analysis has shown that the time expended in such exercise yields more crunch overall. And I always save the one with the most frosting -- the crunchiest! -- for last.
34) I still haven't finished my Christmas cards.
I just mailed about 10 more this week, and I'm trying hard to have everything post-marked by the end of January. But it's not just a matter of addressing cards...in fact, the envelopes are sitting on my counter, already addressed.
Particularly for folks I don't see often, I try to write a little note...and it just takes time. Granted, it shouldn't take me until spring to allocate that time...but it sometimes does. I'm just hoping my "Happy Holidays" message still applies to Groundhog Day.
Oy...February is drawing near! I'd better start planning my birthday dessert!

okay, you kill me! Did you know there's a special cereal bowl you get where the milk and cereal don't mix? I personally think it's a load of you-know-what but one of my favourite photographers, katelyn james, blogged about it...
I also like crunchy. I heat my milk first and then dump the cereal in and eat quickly too :)
PS thanks for the reminder to get something to you pronto!
I am 100% there with you on the cereal. For Frosted Mini Wheats, I will put the mikl in first, then add 6 or 7 pieces of cereal. that allows me to eat it all, get the crunch factor, and avoid the dreaded bloated cereal.
Seeing the cereal absorb so much milk they double in size will prompt me to dump the bowl. Nothing worse than soggy mini wheats. Blech!
I'm the same way with cereal! Only I don't really do breakfast, I never have. I'm one to slowly wake up, and I just can't wake up and eat.
And what is up with the rest of the world heating their milk? I hate warm milk! Sorry Marcia!
HAHA! I always turn all of my mini wheats frosting side up! And yes, if they get soggy it's game over. They get dumped out and I have to try again.
And should the phone ring while I am eating my cereal?? You can bet it's going to voice mail!
I eat a kind of cereal that doesn't get soggy. They are called Quaker's Honey Graham OH's. They are super hard to find here, but worth the hunt! :)
And, for the first two years after the twins were born, we sent out 'Happy New Year' cards... usually with a line on the inside that said something along the lines of "Twin toddlers means sending out New Year cards in lieu of Christmas cards."
I love these little posts about yourself! Such fun lil tidbits about you!!
I hate soggy cereal! blech! Love me some Frosted Mini Wheats, too!
I told myself this year I should take more time to actually write on cards like I used to...but that didn't happen. People got cute pics of the kids - isn't that enough? ha!
Hoping one of those cards has my address on it :-)
HA! Happy Holidays totally applied to Groundhog Day! :)
When it comes to cereal, I like mine with just a little bit of milk soaked in. So, I let it sit for just a moment, then devour ;)
uhm...have you ever tried kashi crunch? it's literally the crunchiest cereal i've ever eaten. you could let it sit in milk overnight and i bet it would still be crunchy.
and 9 grams of protein per serving. and 8 grams of fiber.
and no, i don't work there, but i do eat it every day! :)
My favorite way to eat Frosted Mini Wheats is straight out of the box. In my first year of teaching, I always had a box under my desk for after school snacking. And it's part if my routine to put the frosted side down, so all that sugary goodness goes right onto my tongue. Delish! :o)
p.s. Just got your holiday card a few days ago. So cute!!!
