I Miss...

..."sleeping in" being later than 6:30am.

...taking a mid-morning nap, to wake up just in time to go out to lunch.

...going out to lunch.

...my biggest decision of a Saturday afternoon being the choice between shopping or getting my nails done.

...watching a ballgame in live time, in its entirety...

...not making scrambled eggs every.single.morning. of the world.

...eating popcorn for supper if I wanted to.

...watching meaningless stuff on TV in the middle of the day.

...end tables and lamps.

...being impromptu.

...reading my last-minute travel deals email alerts with interest, as opposed to disdain.

...my bathtub being a sanctuary, and not a corral for various plastic turtles and assorted neon cups.

...not having to run the dishwasher every day, lest I run out of assorted neon cups.

...not having to share my ice cream.

But if I still had all these things, that would mean I didn't have this...

...or this...

...or I wouldn't enjoy hearing, "Moooooooommyyyyyyyy!!!" in stereo...

And of course that's worth more than all the naps, manicures, end tables, popcorn, and ice cream in the world, combined.

(But I hope it doesn't make me sound ungrateful if I'm hoping to sneak in a manicure soon...and stop by for some ice cream [alone!] on my way home.)

What sweet pictures of your girls!

I often think, "How did I not get anything done before the girls were born?!" I mean---I had all that free time you just described!

Sure helps us to appreciate manicures or ice cream---alone! :)

No worries!! I slept in till 0700 the other morning and we got our coffe table, side table and 2 lamps back this year! And the most exciting thing- going out to eat can be impromptu and OK now. Just another year or so to go.. and you still get to keep your lovies!

I totally agree! Though I do still have popcorn for dinner about twice a week. Sunday is my day to remember naps...they are an absolute requirement in our house on Sunday afternoons!

But yes, sweet girls are totally worth it. : )

I miss being able to kick my shoes off at the door and not worry about someone licking them...lol

Great list, and I agree...it's all worth it!

Your girls will have to read this post when they are old enough. :)

I wrote a similar post a few months back and I wholly agree with you, of course! And no, I don't think anyone would blame you for a second for stealing some quiet time away. We all need that!!

I wrote along the same lines on Tueesday and I feel you on a lot of the points. To think there was a time Saturdays were for sleeping in and then doing girl stuff in the mall :)

I feel the same way about so many things.

I miss lamps and picture frames.

I miss sleep...keeping things on the floor...being trusted when I tell someone that the sky is blue...just leaving the house...the list goes on...
