I was hanging out with the girls at their open house, two days before school started. It was around the golden hour of photography, and I was snapping pictures as the girls enjoyed a popsicle before we headed home.
B finished her treat first, and I couldn't resist snapping a few pictures of her braids as she watched some kids across the way...
...and then of A as she enjoyed a few more licks...
How I love those precious golden-haired sisters.
My heart!!!
It seems every day with twins is a mix of trials and triumphs. Certainly the triumphs...the joy, the smiles, and the laughter...far outweigh the trials. And another thing that's for certain is that it's ALWAYS interesting.

Picking Berries: Way Back When-esday
It was a couple of years ago that the girls and I first discovered a big berry farm and orchard about 40 miles south of town. I'm a bit embarrassed to admit that I STILL have berries in the freezer we picked two years ago! (We're working through them slowly, I promise!) That didn't stop us from making another trip down a couple of weekends ago, though.
There's something just so picturesque about picking berries...and fresh beats frozen any day!
Of course a return trip meant breaking out the camera. And of course that prompted me to look at the pictures I just took in comparison to those from two years ago.
The girls' intensity was very similar...but those little baby cheeks aren't quite so round anymore!

Our first trip was just the girls and me. After we picked berries, we explored the farm a bit. I remember Baby A, in particular, being absolutely consumed by a huge field of blooming clover. The girls ran and ran, and then they agreed to stop in front of this beautiful barn side. It was such a great backdrop for a picture!
Cuties!!! |
This year we didn't see any blooming clover, but the girls were awed with a romp through the orchard. Here they were checking out the beginning of what I'm sure will be beautiful peaches.
Still cuties!!! |

Way Back When-esday: Longevity!
Uncle Tommy and Aunt Janet sent the girls these adorable LL Bean sweaters when they were three.
I opened the package and ooh'ed and ahh'ed at the cuteness...and promptly gasped at how much they surely cost. (I tend to be more of a Target kind of gal.)
The sweaters, size 3T, were a bit big on the girls that first year. We wore them a time or two, but the sleeves were rolled up, and we had some extra length in the torso.
Last year I made pictures of the girls in these sweaters, marveling at that being their FOURTH season to wear them.
I am beyond amazed we've now made it FIVE SEASONS. The sleeve length is borderline, particularly for my A, but these sweaters have truly stood the test of time.
[For the record, I have no idea if my A has *always* worn the blue, and B, the pink. I guess that's my next task...to comb through pictures from 2013, 2014, and 2015 to nail that down. HA!]
And...depending on growth spurts, my B has the potential to record another year next year!!!
I dare say these sweaters were an incredible investment...and -- although we still love our Tar-jay -- I don't know that our store brand duds have near the longevity.
Wow!!!
{Thankful to the One and Only Cheryl at Twinfatuation for prompting "Way Back When-esday"!!!}
I was in no way compensated by LL Bean for this post...just sharing our amazing experience...and marveling at how different -- yet same -- my BABIES are.

My Snowy Valentines

The girls have a book called Snowy Valentine. How many times have I thought about that
title over the past few days??!!!
We had an unexpected snow day last Tuesday. It was a big, white, slushy mess outside…not
enough for me to work from home, but plenty that school was cancelled.
The forecast called for more snow on Friday. That was the day of the girls’ Valentine’s
party at school, and we were all hoping the weatherman was wrong.
No such luck.
The girls were a little bit disappointed, but they took it
mostly in stride. They agreed they could
wait until Monday to exchange goodies with their friends.
And then on Sunday -- Valentine's Day -- we had our MoMs group Valentine’s party
scheduled.
Until…
…the forecast called for snow again.
We postponed the party on Sunday morning, seeing the snow
would come to fruition.
My friend D, whose twin boys are the girls’ BFFs, asked if
we wanted to come over for a play date.
We thought the snow would start mid-afternoon, so we planned to slip in
some heart-shaped goodies and crafts, just the few of us.
The girls were ecstatic when I told them about the play
date. “That’s even better!” B exclaimed, so happy to see her friends two-on-two.
Until…
…the snow came in earlier than expected.
We cancelled our play date.
Seriously. Our poor
girls were 0-for-3 in Valentine’s parties.
While we may have lost out on our original (and then
makeshift) plans, it was actually a huge blessing that the snow came
early. We headed out as a family for
some awesome sledding!
The snow was powdery…not good for snowballs or snowmen…but
deep enough that we had a blast!
After we established our run down the hill (and Mommy got in
a couple of trips), I headed back to the house for my camera. It was a Valentine’s Day to remember, for
sure!
Trudging up the steep hill! |

Daddy and his A! |
Thumbs up after a great run! |
B, zooming fast! |
B's thumbs up! |
Such a satisfying afternoon! |
The Snowy Valentine book will no doubt have more meaning for us when we read it in years to come. L-O-V-E!!!
(The girls were out of school AGAIN on Monday, but headed
back today for a belated party. I
was able to slip away from work and join them for a bit. They were just as excited on Tuesday as they
would have been on Friday…seeing their friends after a FOUR-day weekend AND extending their holiday celebration. Woo hoo!)

Way Back When-esday: The Girls' First Snow Day
It's been a while since I gave a nod to the original blog throw-back (at least in my book)...sweet Cheryl's "Way Back When-esday" on Twinfatuation...
...but looking back to the girls' first time to play in the snow, contrasted to this week's jaunt, was the perfect prompt.
Oh, my...I almost can't even.
My BABIES were just over two, which means this was FIVE YEARS AGO.
Gulp.
Seeing them with those little sand buckets and ears on their hoods...just divine.
I'd wager that we had even more fun these past few days, romping through the powder together, sledding super-fast, and wiping out in a big heap at the bottom of the hill...
...but these sweet pictures will always hold an incredibly sweet place in my heart!!!

At Long Last...VACATION PICTURES!!!
At long last...PICTURES!!! These are {mostly} in the order I took them.
Our second full day, we took a trip to the archaeological site at Tulum. It was awesome!!!
After our trek around the pyramids, we were HOT and HUNGRY. I felt kinda {a lot} guilty...but I couldn't resist the lure of Starbucks.
Back at the resort...
Our last morning...just a few more pictures...
And our last picture of our trip, with our favorite waiter, Alejandro. What a fitting way to sum up our trip...sweet family time, good weather, good food, a beautiful setting...and incredibly kind people.
We had such a wonderful time...and seeing these pictures, I am ready to go back!!!
We saw the sunrise every day from our balcony! |
The girls couldn't wait to test out the hammocks! |
Feet in the water! They loved it!!! |
(Can't decide which angle I like better...so I included them both!) |
Family photo! |
Mommy sandwich in the sand! No better feeling! |
The girls kept trying to make "sand balls"...like snowballs, I guess. |
B, trying with slightly drier sand. Still no luck. HA! |
Ice cream after lunch at one of our favorite restaurants at the resort! |
Baby B, climbing the rock wall! |
Baby A's turn! I got a kick out of how "professional" they looked. |
Another Mommy sandwich in the lobby of the hotel. Beautiful! |
Watching the sunrise from the beach...WOW!!! |
Our second full day, we took a trip to the archaeological site at Tulum. It was awesome!!!
One of the original entrances through the stone wall fortress. |
I didn't know that Baby A turned her hat around until I saw this picture...cracks me up! |
Such a cool view! |
Our favorite family picture from our trip! |
We even spied several wild iguanas. |
Breathtaking! |
Back at the resort...
We sat here several times. What a gorgeous view we had! |
Our last supper at the resort. We had excellent food, and the mariachi band was so much fun! |
Our last morning...just a few more pictures...
The girls playing ball in the shallow pool |
Mommy made a super-quick trip to the beach to take a last few pics...couldn't resist the view over my toes! |
And this picture was on my bucket list!!! |
Daddy even indulged us by picking up the camera...another Mommy sandwich! |
We loved the float pool! |
One last little refreshment after a morning of fun... |

Pure Joy and Exultation
A couple of weekends ago, I surprised the girls with a trip to the downtown fountains. I try to do this about once a year. It can be a little crowded, a bit of a free-for-all if you hit it at the wrong time, so I don't often like to chance it.
This year, we were in luck! There were only a couple of other families frolicking that afternoon, so we had plenty of room to run and jump and play.
[We. Yes. I can't resist joining in! I certainly don't parade around in my swimsuit, but I wear something that's OK to get a bit damp. I try not to get drenched...but I am sometimes surprised by a wayward fountain and/or a mischievous kiddo. I love it!!!]
I have such vivid memories from the first time we took the girls to the fountain, when they were 2 1/2. Baby A wasn't very fond of all the wetness...
...but Baby B loved it. She'd get a little shocked from time to time, but she kept going back for more.
On subsequent trips to the fountains, both my babies have enjoyed themselves. And this year's picture yield showed just that.
I LOVE our annual tradition! And all the awesome memories (and pictures!!!) that come with it!!!
Linking up with Cheryl at Twinfatuation for Way Back When-esday. I can't resist a good trip down Memory Lane!!!
