Super Stuff on a Monday

Lots of super-fabulousness this week!

1)      For breakfast one morning, I made oatmeal and scrambled eggs.  Baby A burst into song before she started eating, “Oatmeal, scrambled eggs / oatmeal, scrambled eggs / oatmeal, scrambled eeeeeeeeeeeeggs…oatmeal, scrambled eggs!  I could not quit laughing.  I finally recognized the tune as “He's a Jolly Good Fellow”.  Since then we’ve put lots of menu plans into song.  It always prompts family giggles.

2)      When the girls were smaller, maybe between 18 months and 2 ½ years old, I would take them to Sonic from time to time on a nice day…they’d sit in their stroller and I’d prop up in a patio chair.  The three of us would share a kiddie ice cream cup.  It was always such a nice break for me, and they certainly didn’t mind the treat, either.  The girls had been asking to play on the little playground at Sonic forever now, and I’d consistently told them we would do that when they were older.  For some reason I missed that window this summer, but we had a gorgeous day this past week.  After a blissful NAP, I surprised the girls with a trip to Sonic…AND they got to play on the playground.  You would have thought Christmas came early at A&B Enterprises.

3)      After I posted a few days ago about teaching my girls to spit, things clicked suddenly for Baby B.  She was SO proud of herself at spitting her toothpaste out, and then rinsing her mouth.  The look on her face was priceless!

4)      Out of the blue, Baby B told A, I love you, Sissy.”  Then, “Sissy, you’re supposed to say, ‘I love you, too.’  Baby A obliged, but apparently not to B’s liking.  You should say it nicely, Sissy, like this…” and she proceeded to model her ideal answer in a sing-song voice.

5)      Baby A was extra affectionate before bed one night.  I heard her cooing with her daddy while I was putting B down.  I love you, Daddy,” and he’d reciprocate.  I love your eyes,” and he’d reply.  I love your nose,” and on and on.  I almost hated to interrupt them, but I don’t know how long she would have continued!

6)      The girls went to their first “friend” birthday party (outside of my circle of friends).  The theme was “rockets”.  The girls wouldn’t wear their “Astronaut in Training” tshirts and hats during the party, but they’ve almost worn them out over the past two days.  The party favors included little “army men” astronauts and a rocket.  It’s been so cute to watch them set up their space stations…and also funny when B decided they must be hungry, so she fixed them a picnic.

7)      We had a new refrigerator delivered this weekend.  The girls were enthralled, watching the big truck pull up…watching the hydraulic lift…the hand truck…and every last movement the delivery guys made.  As they were struggling to get in the door, Baby A said, “That’s a heavy job, right, Mommy?  I’m sure the nice men appreciated the acknowledgement…HA!  As the men were finishing, I offered them a bottle of water.  Not my bottles, Mommy!” Baby A cautioned.  Despite their hard work, Baby A wasn’t willing to share, apparently.

8)      On Sunday, the girls’ Advent activity was to watch the lighting of the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree.  (This was HUGE since we very rarely watch TV.)  They watched contentedly for a few minutes, but B spent most of the time dancing to the music, and A decided she needed her microphone to sing along.

9)      We have been talking about how nice it would be to have a house with a basement.  The girls wasted no time in incorporating that into their pretend play.  They’ll push around their babies, “shopping”…”Oh, this house looks like it has a basement!  Nice!!!

10)   And B cracked me up one afternoon.  I'm stinkin' cute, right, Mommy?" Where did you hear that? I asked, trying to suppress a giggle.  "From you!"  Yup, I guess I’m guilty.

So thankful for another great week with my sweet baby girls.  :)  :)

Did you save the refrigerator box?? I have seen so many neat pins on imaginative play with the boxes. Hubs said we couldn't order a new fridge just so I could get the box ;-)

I love how the girls are so sweet and affectionate. I saw a quote this week that resonated with me: "Be careful how you talk to your children. It becomes their inner voice." Something tells me A&B will have a gentle, nurturing voice to guide them!

PS-Your guest post is up. Thank you so much for sharing!
