A New Holiday Favorite!

A few months ago, I posted about our very favorite kiddie CD, Susie Tallman's "Children's Songs: a collection of childhood favorites".

I love sharing things that our family truly loves...and I love reading about things that truly work for other families.  I've bought several copies of this CD for gifts.  I think it's a fantastic introduction to so many quintessential children's songs, many of which are sung with a fun, new twist, and all of which are pleasant enough for children and adults, alike.

A couple of weeks ago, I got the nicest email -- out of the blue -- from Susie Tallman's Social Media Coordinator.  She'd happened upon my post, and was writing to thank me for my kind words.  She asked if we would enjoy a copy of Susie's Christmas CD, as well as her new "Animal Songs and Stories" CD.  Well...if it's anything like our very favorite CD of Susie's...of course we would!

A few days following, I received the nicest hand-written note (!!!) from Susie herself.  I had no idea she was a fellow twin mama, too.  How cool!!!

I resisted loading any Christmas music in the CD player until the day after Thanksgiving.  (That was hard!)  The girls happened to see the Susie Tallman CD, and they were so excited about the beautiful depiction of a squirrel on the CD itself.  And as soon as the first few rockin' bars to "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town" played, they started dancing.

This CD has become our go-to of the season.  (I tried to kick off the day with a James Taylor CD over the weekend, the girls girls balked right away.  "THAT'S not the first song!  We want the squirrel CD!")  [Hope Ms. Tallman doesn't mind the association my girls have made between her and one of our favorite woodland creatures...if you know how the girls delight in squirrels, you'd recognize it as a compliment.  HA!]

The CD has almost every classic Christmas song you can think of, ranging from silly fun (like Rudolph and Frosty and the Grinch), to religious standards.  There are also a handful of songs that were new to me.

There's something about Tallman's delivery that draws my kiddos in.  While we've listened to these same songs hundreds of times already, they seem to pick up on the words more easily from her renditions.  There are also a few jokes sprinkled in ("What do you call a reindeer wearing earmuffs?  Anything you want...he can't hear you!") that my girlies think are great.

In addition to the Christmas CD ("A Child's Christmas * Holiday Songs & Carols" is the official title), we also received the Animal Songs CD, and a DVD of 23 song performances.

I have to admit we haven't listened to those yet...I thought they would make great stocking stuffers for the girls...oh, and I don't think I'd be able to wrangle the Tallman Christmas CD out of the player just yet.  ;)  I'll be sure to let you know how much we like them, as I'm sure we will.

***Ms. Tallman didn't ask me to write this post, but I'm glad to do it.  Again, I love to share with other families some of the things that we love at our house...and I love to be nice to nice people.***

Wanna see Ms. Tallman's precious dynamic duo and their sweet big sis?  There are plenty of pictures on her FB page.  :)  :)

The holidays for me are all about the sights and smells and sounds...and this CD will be with our family for years to come, I'm sure evoking warm memories of our little elves dancing in delight at the tender age of not-quite-four.

Her FB page is now LIKED! We'll definitely check out this recommendation. Good music from a fellow twin mommy? Why, yes, I think we will. haha

Enjoy the "squirrel" music this season!
