Forever in Blue Jeans

I remember hearing someone scoff not long ago at the idea of "skinny jeans" for babies. How disgusting, right? What slaves to fashion we all are, and to think about someone imparting that on their innocent children. Humph.

But when I started trying to outfit the girls this fall, I realized how my "babies" are growing up. While I have hopes that the girls might surpass their 5'2" mama in the height department, their proportions are making it hard to find pants that fit. Even the 2T pants that were too big last year, are still too big in the waist this year...but are too short already.

Skinny jeans, here we come!

I took this picture of the girls in their new jeans last week.

The moment I downloaded it, I thought back to a similar picture I had of the girls in their first pair of (non-skinny) jeans, almost exactly two years ago.

This picture always melts my heart. At eight months old, I love how they were just propped up on the couch (weren't those the days!), leaning against each other to check out this new denim phenomenon.

In having girls, I am thankful that leggings are such an easy option. And I'm also thankful that I found a way to outfit the girls in jeans, too. Every gal needs at least one go-to pair, right?

(And I'd be lying if I said I'm not looking forward to seeing them in their jeans and boots! Mama may not be able to pull it off, but I'll bet they can!)

I'm linking up with Cheryl at Twinfatuation for Way Back When-esday. Thanks, as always, for prompting me to dig back through my picture files, Cheryl! It's always a sweet treat.

And if you haven't entered my GIVEAWAY to celebrate my new blog design...you have until Sunday, October 23rd to do so!

I had the same thoughts about skinny jeans until I realized they fit the girls better!! Plus, you can cuff the bottoms in spring/summer and they make very cute capris. Can't do that with bootcut ones! I have same problem with big in the waist but too short and I've found Old Navy jeans seem to fit the best. Also, I must admit I did buy the girls some "jeggings" at Target the other day! And they actually look really cute and seem comfortable! Love the new blog design, too!

I think my kiddies have been cursed...I mean blessed...with my short stature as well...makes pant shopping difficult for sure! As always, those girls are adorable!

Skinny jeans definitely fit my girls better. Even if I buy "regular" jeans with an adjustable waist, they look really baggy, so skinny jeans it is. I'm going to be so disappointed when they outgrow pants with adjustable waists. Everything that fits length-wise is always too big in the waist.

Awww, I love the way-back pictures! I think my girls are going to be like me in the jeans department...I refused to wear them until I was in 4th or 5th grade; I thought they were so uncomfortable! Addison sometimes wants to wear a pair because she loves pockets, but M won't leave them on for more than ten minutes. Guess it will be cotton pants and leggings for awhile! : )

Yes. I am 5'9" and my hubby is 6'1" and my kiddies are already tall. They are all tall and thin, so we usually go with adjustable waists, but (like someone else said) they end up looking bulky and bulgy around their hips. I have decided to embrace the cute leggings. I can buy them in bigger sizes so they are long enough, they just arent as fitted as they were meant to be. They still look cute. I need to check out 'skinny jeans.' They may just be a perfect solution!

too cute - I love the pics - both sets - they're cute for different reasons :)

Kendra is tall and Connor is average but his torso is longer than his legs (if you know what I mean). I can get his size on the top but on the bottom I get one size smaller :)

I keep looking at the skinny jeans but keep putting them down. K is already skinny so I think they'll look weird!

I am a sucker for babies in jeans! Too cute!

I also gave in and bought skinny jeans for Em. I love them. They look great with baby doll type shirts!

I love jeans! I'd live in them if I could!! I never really cared for the skinny jeans...but now that I'm 'skinnier' and have some tall boots, I'm tempted to find a pair tall enough for me! (tough job when you're 6'1"!)

I think jeans are timeless...great for any era - but love that the styles can say so much!

Oh Mandy, I LOVE this past-to-present comparison...and your enthusiasm about looking ahead to those high-fashion years ahead!

They're so beautiful the both of them...as are you!

Thank you so much for joining in the reverie!
