A Little About Me, April Edition

17) I’m rather particular about my pens. (And that might just be an understatement.)

Several years ago I landed upon a specific make and model of pens, and the universe suddenly began to align. The Extra Fine point on the Gel Roller [Pilot P-500 Series] glides seamlessly across the page with very little friction. It encourages my very best “book inscription” hand-writing when called for, while it also allows me to scribble a quick note in the blink of an eye. The precision of the Extra Fine point allows me to write very concisely to fill the lines in my calendar. All the while, I never worry about smudges or smears.

I buy these pens in packs of six, but I only take one pen from the pack at a time. I use it until the ink runs out, and only then do allow for replenishment.

Want to see me sweat? Move My Pen under a stack of papers, just when I need to make my grocery list. It’s not pretty. In a pinch I will succumb to using another [inferior] pen, but I feel rather askew until my trusty utensil is safely by my side.

Want to test my admiration for you? Ask me if you can borrow My Pen. I try to breathe deeply when it’s in someone else’s hands…but all the while I’m stealing glances to make sure they’re not applying too much pressure to as to bend the Extra Fine point…or – Heaven forbid! – trying to slip it in their purse when they think I’ve turned my head.

18) I’m so far from a techie.

I don’t have an iPod, or an iPad, or an iPhone. I listen to my music on CDs, and I have a bargain basement cell phone on which I’ve never sent a text message. (I used to have a Blackberry for work, but I dispensed with that two years ago.) I only bought a digital camera a couple of months before the girls were born.

I’m sure I would appreciate some of the technology, but I don’t have the time or want to spend the resources to upgrade my current systems. I know I’ll need to catch up with the world when the girls are a little older…but maybe by then they’ll be able to teach me how to use all the new-fangled equipment!

My husband is the same way with pens! And he will also only use fine-point Pilots! Too funny. However, for him the big issue is smudging because he is a lefty and almost every other pen smudges as he drags his hand across the page while writing.

You crack me up! Love how you just described your love of your pen! I actually have a specific type I use at work, but it is red & bold point! Probably because I used them to review work of others! I have to make sure I get my point across! ;-)

All I can say about my iPhone and iPad is I LOVE THEM! If you don't want to get addicted to a phone, stay far away! Apple has that addicting force behind their products! I agree though your girls will get you caught up soon enough!

Happy Easter to you and your family Mandy!

hahahaha. i use drug rep pens, mostly....but i DO love a good pen! extra fine point is key. the only thing about the gel pens is that if the paper is even a little glossy it can smear. you have to let it sit for 30 sec or so....

and do people REALLY need all that technology? ;)

Isn't it funny how a good pen can make you just want to write down anything and everything?? In my office, the Pentel Energels are the coveted (hoarded?) item. We love them!

I am so with you on the technology also. I'm glad to hear someone else admit they don't even own an iPod. : )

Too funny about the pens! I have a particular brand that I prefer as well, but that's about it.

Now here I thought I was the last of the technophobes and I see you and Deanna are in the same club with me :)

I do have an iPod shuffle (gift) and of course I recently bought a Kindle.

I'm with you on the pens - except my pen of choice is Pilot 0.7 - love the pink and sky blue ones the best.

D comes to me today and says, "do you know Kendra is running around with your PEN?" I ran outside like a bat out of hell to rescue my pink pen. Hey, they cost R28,95 each ($4).
