Even amid a bit of crazy, there’s still plenty of fabulous to go ‘round!
1) The girls were (sorta-kinda) singing “The Farmer and the Dell”. I was so proud of them, until I realized that Baby B was saying, “The farmer takes the wipes.” She is her mother’s daughter, as I sure do love my wet wipes!
2) A couple of times over the past several months, when I’d have a little one-on-one time with one of the girls, I’d ask if she wanted to look at a cookbook. We’d pile up in the living room, which is normally off-limits, and look at all the delicious pictures, pointing out fruits and veggies and forks and spoons. Lately cookbooks have been a bit of a fascination with the girls…particularly if they’re upset, they’ve been saying, “Wanna look at cookbook!”
3) On Saturday night, to celebrate our first day of potty training, we ordered a pizza. This was only the third time the girls have ever enjoyed this delicacy, yet they ate like seasoned pros. I don’t want to make a habit of it, but it sure was an awesome treat for us all.
4) During Week 1 of the Potty-capades, I’d vowed to stay at home. It’s been pretty easy, as we’ve had days upon days of rain…but on Tuesday afternoon, and again on Thursday, we were blessed with some sunshine. I chanced a 30-minute walk in the neighborhood with the girls, hand-in-hand, and it was WONDERFUL. The fresh air was fantastic, and the only “wet” was from stepping in a puddle!
5) Since it’s gotten a little warmer, I’ve been craving salad. Hubby and I have eaten a green salad with our dinners most nights this week, and I’ve given the girls about ¼ of a diced cucumber. They’ve gobbled it up, saying, “I love my salad!”
And what did I do for ME this week???
For the past three weeks, I’ve been getting up early on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays to do a step aerobics workout, one that I haven’t done in at least a year. Most of my exercise for the past year has been with the jogging stroller, or an occasional solo jog. It’s been really nice to have a really intense cardio workout, all by my lonesome.
And (perhaps contrary to my working out!) I treated myself to a Dairy Queen Reese’s blizzard on Thursday night, also all by my lonesome. I had been thinking about that specific indulgence for days, and I thought I deserved it! And lemme tell you, it was some kinda good!
[Thanks to Dolli-Mama for hosting the 52 Weeks of ME! Challenge every week!]

Sounds like a great week! I'm sure your girls loved the pizza night!! We "often" (sadly) have pizza night b/c it's a sure bet for the girls. Glad you enjoyed a DQ too (I'm a former DQ employee -- 7 years all through college)!! The aerobics totally justifies it ;)
The farmer takes the wipes....LOL....LOVE IT!!!
We all should totally indulge once in a while. I'm with the other commenter, the aerobics TOTALLY justifies it!
Drooling over the Reese's!
Who would have thought a simple cookbook would be so entertaining?! I love this new age of discovery and opinion. Seeing their personalities grow and develop is so amazing!!
And getting up early... I could never do it, you're a rockstar!
Sounds like you may have some future chefs on your hands! Too cute!
Maybe I should try found aerobic videos again! I need something to motivate me. Sounds like nice me time! DQ blizzards are the best! We use to have them everywhere in OK, but only know of one small town with one now. :(
Have a fantasic weekend! Take care!
Mandy, now you have me craving a blizzard from Dairy Queen! I better not though cause I'm just getting over being sick.
Good for you though doing your workouts so consistently...definitely an area I am needing to step up!
how cute about the Farmer taking the wipes! ha!
A good salad sounds great! I had one for dinner tonight but it wasn't fantastic. I bought lots of lettuce at the store yesterday so another (better one) is in my future!
Those are some great highlights amongst a week of potty training at home!
I remember when Buba blew me away by singing the entire Farmer in the Dell song and getting all the people/animals in the correct order. I wish I'd made a note of exactly when that was. I was so amazing to me.
I can't believe you're not a pizza eating family! We live just down the road from a family run Greek pizza shop, and we probably have pizza from there once or twice a month. We order cheese for the kiddos, but they love to eat olives and grilled chicken off the pizza for grown-ups. :o)
That's awesome that the girls love cucumber. My guys really love eating salad these days- mostly just lettuce, cucumber and tomatoes, but still. It makes me so happy to see them enjoying fresh veggies.
I love that you treated yourself to a Dairy Queen Blizzard! I grew up in a town with a Dairy Queen, but we don't have one all that close to us. Perhaps I'll seek one out one of these weeks to treat myself to a little indulgence.
Have a great weekend!
Love the wipes story and the cookbook...what a great way to teach them about food and to get them interested in cooking so they can eventually fall into the role of waiting on you hand and foot. That's the way it goes, right?
I love that your are raising little foodies! So cute!
Yum, a blizzard sounds really good right now (at 7 am). :)
Thanks for reminding me to find the fabulous in the little things...singing, pizza night, a walk on a day when it's finally sunny, and a DQ blizzard.
You've inspired me to put the walk and the Blizzard on today's to-do list :-)
What I wouldn't do for a blizzard right now!
