Another fabulous week!
1) I got the sweetest glimpse of sisterhood as I was going into the girls’ room on Thursday morning. Both girls were standing in their cribs, looking at each other. Although I’d already heard them talking to each other over the monitor, Baby B was saying, “Hey [Baby A], how are you?” So stinkin’ cute.
2) The girls have gotten really serious about Mommy’s and Daddy’s wellbeing lately. They’ll caution, “Be careful, Mommy,” as I’m climbing over the baby gate (taking a clue from their Daddy). They’ve also started asking, “How Mommy’s lunch?” and, “How Daddy’s day?”
3) The girls have been able to fill in the blanks of stories and rhymes for many months now, and they’ve been reciting portions of songs for a long time. Just this week Baby A belted out “Baa, Baa, Black Sheep” in its entirety, of her own accord. I’m so proud of her!
4) On a related note, Baby A has been taking books from me and saying, “I read it to Mommy!” She’ll let me get her started with reciting the text on a page, or she’ll narrate pictures as she turns the pages. Pretty cool!
5) Just this week the girls have started employing some personal pronouns. “…to me, “ “...for us,” “I do it.” I know speaking in third person is part of normal language development…but I’m also thankful it’s beginning to sound a little less Rainman-ish around here!
And what did I do for ME this week???
Daddy had a late day on Friday, so he wasn’t home in time to eat supper with the girls. In such cases I usually just heat up some leftovers for us, but I decided a mini-date night was in order instead.
After the girls went to bed, I sent Hubby to pick up Chinese takeout…something we literally haven’t had in years. I set the table with real place settings (no Styrofoam takeout trays for us!), turned on some music, and dimmed the lights. We so enjoyed that little treat!

I love having "date nights" after the girls go to bed! They are absolutely necesssary since we don't get to go out on dates very often.
Your girls just sound like the sweetest! I love that they are showing genuine interest and concern about others--very cool. I can't wait till my girls can saw more than a few words :)
Date night sounds amazing right about now! I think these girls of mine have decided not to speak! It's driving me batty but I'm trying to go with the flow...
Hope you have a great weekend!
I'm very tuned into language development now that I have a daughter with a very significant speech delay. I'm so glad to hear your twins are talking so well! Every milestone is so exciting!
Hey Baby A, how are you? Too cute!!! Date night in....also a great concept!
I love it when my kids read to me. It's fun to hear them recite the stories from memory, but I like it even more when they make up their own stories to match the pictures they are seeing. It's always interesting to hear a tale from their point of view.
And I love that you had a little mini-date with hubby. Sounds so lovely !
OH my gosh, their talking is so cute!
I also wrote a little about talking today - how weird :)
I love how you got your groove this week :) You've given me an idea and I think I'll get some takeaways or fun food for us either tomorrow night or Sunday.
Good for you turning that into a date night! I think it just takes adding some special touches to make it real special. Good job Mandy!
What an awesome week! I bet the twin sister bond will be so strong! They will probably melt your heart a lot. Too sweet! Isn't it amazing how much they start communicating they start doing. Being able to converse with them is awesome! Glad you are know getting to enjoy it too! Loving your last minute date night! I am sure it meant a lot to your DH. Very sweet! Have a great weekend!
sounds like the girls are at such a fun age right now :)

That sounds awesome! I love date nights in. It's nice to connect with your husband in the comfort of your own home.
I can't believe how big an talkative your girls are getting. Time is moving so fast!
I love when any of my kids read me the story!!
Chinese sounds really good right now - maybe we'll get takeout one night this week when we don't feel like cooking!
Now that sounds like a great way to treat yourself. :) Chinese food is awesome!
Love, love, love the date night!
And the things your girls are saying are stinking adorable! Don't you love watching their little personalities emerge?
"How are you?" is too freaking cute!
Since I've been sick for 135 days, every time I cough, Matt says, "you okay, Mom?" It's nice to know that they might actually care if you keeled over, huh?
Love the date night!
I wish I could meet the girls in person, they just seem absolutely adorable!
The mini-date sounds awesome!
