What my husband said this morning was one of the sweetest things he ever could have spoken.
Yesterday was a snow day. I joked that my girls were fine with that, but my husband (a teacher) was the one doing the Happy Dance (yes, in caps) at our house.
I know they had a fun day together. They did numbers...they tossed the ball in the basement...they went out to lunch...and B reported she read "A LOT". Hubby said something about watching a soccer game, so I know he had some "quiet time" to himself. And they generally hung out with the cats, and watched the cats watch the snow.
"These days are such a gift," Hubby reflected to me early this morning. He said how the girls are at such a wonderful age...so much fun, so communicative...and he is so appreciative of having the extra time with them. "I'd rather have a day today than have that day three months from now," he said.
Yep. Three months from now, the girls will be three months older. They'll have grown. They'll be at least a little bit different than they are today.
How dear it was for me to hear my husband verbalize that sentiment.
It seems every day with twins is a mix of trials and triumphs. Certainly the triumphs...the joy, the smiles, and the laughter...far outweigh the trials. And another thing that's for certain is that it's ALWAYS interesting.

A Bit About Me (and Hubby), June Edition
My birthday is on February 23, and on the 23rd of
each month, I usually post a couple of random things about myself. Since Hubby and I celebrated our 13th
wedding anniversary yesterday, I’m dedicating this month’s randomness to the
both of us.
43) We honeymooned in
Cancun…twice.
For our fifth anniversary, we made a return trip to the
Caribbean. We entertained different
locations, but in the end, decided to stay in the same hotel…how romantic,
right?
Well, it may have been romantic, but Hubby and I laugh about
how our tastes changed in those first five years. We never considered the hotel “first class”,
but we liked it enough in 1999 to try it again in 2004. We hadn’t been there a day when we declared
the place a “dump”. HA!
We missed our 10-year trip (since our hands were rather full
with a couple of five-month olds), but we’re hoping to resume our Caribbean
adventures in 2014, for our 15-year anniversary. We’re looking forward to creating a new
definition of “romantic” – with a new location, and with our girlies in tow.
44) I STILL haven’t
finished our wedding album.
I have most of it done, and everything is stacked nicely
together, but I don’t have it all prettied up.
The upside – at least as I tell myself – is that, particularly versus
1999, now “scrapbooking” is a more defined hobby, and there are so many pretty
things I can do. I know, I know…a likely
story, huh? :/
Stay tuned for more randomness next month...and I'm committing to an update on the wedding album. (I haven't thought about that in a while...definitely not a proud moment!)

A Bit About Me (and Hubby), June Edition
My birthday is on February 23rd, and on the 23rd of each month, I've taken to sharing a couple of random things about me.
As yesterday marked our twelfth wedding anniversary, I’m dedicating this month’s “A Bit About Me” to twelve things about our wedding / marriage to date.
[And yes, that means I was 12 when we got married…no way am I old enough to really have been married TWELVE YEARS!!!]

1) Hubby and I knew each other for four and a half years before we got engaged, and we’d been dating for just over three years.
2) I picked out my engagement ring a couple of months prior to when my hubby proposed. I was fine with that…it ensured I got the ring I wanted…but I told him he had to figure out the proposal on his own.
3) Hubby proposed to me on New Year’s Eve 1998, on the beach, at sunset. I don’t remember anyone else being on the beach, but there was a group of people on a nearby balcony. We didn’t see them until after I said “yes”, and they all clapped for us.
4) Our engagement was just less than six months. We didn’t have a big wedding, so we didn’t need a lot of time to plan, so that length was just perfect in my book.
5) We got married on a Tuesday afternoon, on what would have been my parents’ 25th wedding anniversary.
6) We got married in an old antebellum mansion, just off the University of Alabama campus. For a short period of time, that house had served as the state capital.
7) We had a small wedding…only about 40 close friends and family…and no wedding attendants. I actually loved the idea of standing in front of everyone with only my husband.
8) We had stargazer lilies as part of the decorations at the reception. I love the way they look, but hate the way they smell! Nonetheless, that smell always reminds me (fondly!) of our wedding day.
9) Everything went as planned during our wedding…except that I forgot my bouquet. I didn’t realize it until I was all the way down the aisle. Oops!
10) I wore something old [my mom’s wedding ring], something new [my wedding dress], something borrowed [pearl earrings from my grandmother that my dad had given her], and something blue [an embroidered handkerchief from my aunt]. I love traditions!
11) We went to Cancun on our honeymoon. We vowed we’d go back every five years to celebrate. We made it there for our fifth anniversary…but for our tenth, we were a little busy with a couple of five-month olds! We’re aiming to make up for it on our fifteenth anniversary, when we hope to take the girls with us!
12) In the first four years of our marriage, we lived in four states and owned four houses. Thankfully, the past eight years have been much more settled!
It's not always been easy (nor do I think it's supposed to have been)...but it's mostly been fun...and I can't imagine sharing this journey with anyone else.

My Three Favorite People
I love this picture...

Daddy was playing with the girls, and they were all having such a good time. He may not be much (or anything at all) for changing diapers, but it makes my heart smile to see my hubby enjoying our baby girls.
(This just so happens to fit in with the "Makes My Monday" theme on Twinfatuation!)
