The Adventures of Flat Stanley

My friend Charlene at Adventures-in-Mommy-Land mentioned a few weeks ago that her boys were doing a Flat Stanley project.  I offered to host him for a day, with the promise that we'd show him a really good time.

I hope Mr. Stanley enjoyed his time with us.  I know the girls sure enjoyed their time with him!

A and B were all giggles when I introduced them to Flat Stanley before breakfast one morning.  He was with us every waking moment the entire day...and the girls probably would have slept with him if I would have let them!

Eating breakfast...they put Stanley in the middle between them.
Here's Baby A, getting acquainted with Stanley after breakfast.

After the girls ate breakfast, they decided Stanley was probably hungry.  They built him a very nice chair with a tray.

Stanley gobbled up his grapes, broccoli, and artichoke (???).
Baby B read some books to Stanley.  He was really fond of the Frog and Toad books.

After a morning of play, it was time for Stanley to take a nap.  The girls built him a bed and gave him a bunny finger puppet, just his size, to keep him company.

That afternoon, we took Stanley to one of the hallmarks of our area, the National Corvette Museum.  He loved all the sporty rides!
After looking around a bit, Stanley accompanied the girls for a snack at the Corvette Cafe, a '50's style diner.

He got all sorts of special treatment, even "hanging out" to welcome guests for a little while.

After our snack, Stanley scored the girls a backstage pass to see where they wash the cars before they bring them into the museum.  It was literally a high-security area, but I guess Stanley looks like he can be trusted.

As we were getting ready to leave, another museum staff member spotted Stanley and asked if he'd like to drive a car.  Neither he nor his co-captains could reach the pedals, but they still enjoyed pretending to speed around the track in a 2013 convertible!

Stanley paused for a moment at the exit to play with the oversized gas tank / candy dispenser.

After our fun afternoon, we had to get back to reality with a trip to the grocery store.  While the girls steered the cart, Stanley proved to be an expert list-holder.

The following day, the girls drew pictures of Stanley.

At last it was time to send Stanley home.
Farewell, kind Stanley...until we meet again!!!

Stanley literally kept the girls entertained the entire day!  Thanks, Charlene, for inspiring so much fun.  I know the girls will remember this for a long time!

Nice! My pharmacy hosted a Flat Stanley one time. I wanted to take pictures of him with the viagra but decided that was inappropriate :)

What fun! J's class has "Buddy" and "Betty" - he'll get to bring Buddy home a few times this year. He can't wait to document what we do when he visits ;-)
